Barcelona

In a couple of weeks I'm going to Barcelona, since so many of you are from Spain, I was wondering where the best non-touristy places to go are? Can you recommend any bars/clubs/restaurants/museums/shops/areas I should visit? I've looked on SpottedByTheLocals.com and there are so many great places but I wanted to find out whether anyone I know has had any good experiences at any of them as we're only there for 6 days so we might not be able to cram them all in.

I'm from Barcelona :)

You should visit definately and since you like photography...

- Park Güell
- La sagrada familia
- Agbar Tower (if you could go there at night... it's very beautiful)
- Barri Gotic
- Monjüic
- Plaza Catalunya (to go shopping)
- Las ramblas
- La fundacio Joan Miro (Museum)
- el port

Bars/Clubs

- Razzmatazz
- And there's a bar over las ramblas called "El bosc de les fades", it's a bar that it seems like a woods, they even have a little bridge over there. I love it.
- And mostly Marina, it's a stop in the underground where you can find many bars and clubs to go out.

And would recommend you other places out of Barcelona city, out of the tourists, but like you said you are going to be here for 6 days :(

Hi Kat

I'm from Brighton but i went to Barcalona a few years ago with my college mates, the only clubs i can remember off the top of my head are the Magic Club (Plays most Indie/Rock and cheesey hits from 80/90's) might play different types now though. Another top club to check out would be the Apollo club, i absolutely loved this place and the atomosphere was amazing too.
I don't remember exactly where in Barcalona they are, but i'll do some research and get to you in another post.

Hi kat

I'm from Brighton orginally but i went to Barcalona a few years ago with college mates. The only clubs i can remember off the top of my head are the Magic club (played mostly indie/rock and cheesey 80/90's hits) though 3 years is a long time it might be different now.
Another top club i enjoyed was the Apollo club, probably one of the best atomospheres in any club, i've EVER been too!
I can't really help you with non touristy places as i'm not famous and you are, all i can recommend is keep those shades on and your be fine :)
I can't remember the location's where these clubs are based but i'll do some googling and get back to you in another post.

Hi Kat

Here are the address's of the clubs:

Apollo, Nightclub, Barcelona

Nou de la Rambla, 113 EL RAVAL

L3 Green Metro Line ” Liceu”

and the other:

Magic Club Address: Passeig de Picasso 40, 08003

That's the best info i could find on the Magic Club, if you have a sat nav app on your iPhone this will help, just be sure to download all the additional countries extras.

Anyways i hope this helps Kat.

Sorry for the double post btw, i thought my first post didn't send :)

Hi Kat,

The best sangria I had was at a place called La Ovella Negra meaning "The Black Sheep". Here's the link: http://www.ovellanegra.com/en/home/home.asp

It's in Las Ramblas. Locals there recommend it, too. It has large tables so you end up sitting with lots of people so you definitely get to mingle. I recommend it! Also, see Gaudi's works throughout the city. The person from Barcelona already suggested his places, like Parc Guell. Enjoy!

Hi Kat! I am from Barcelona and I second that Marina is the best place for bars and party on Friday and Saturday, but make sure you don't get there before 11 am or it'll be absolutely empty

About the last comment, you shouldn't loose your time at La Ovella Negra, you'll find much better sangrías anywhere else! I recomend Dixi in Marina though, it is one of the most authentic bars in my opinion, you'll find anything from heavys to hipsters and the music is pretty good (rock, electropop,...) but the best are the drinks, 4€, beers are cheaper but i don't know how much

To eat, let's see, if you like burgers you shouldn't miss Pim Pam Burger in el Born, and neither Big J's Burger, decorated like a typical american dinner

There's also this place my friends and I discovered recently near Apolo called Domino, they make such delicious homemade pizzas and pies and also the best natural cocktails, caipiroska with the fruit you want for just 3.50€ ! it's at c/de les Flors 16, little street you'll find it

And I don't really know what else I can say! For a general idea you can take a look at the guide I have in my blog: http://letmefeelikeadoll.blogspot.com/2009/08/barcelona-i-love.html

Hope you have a great stay and get to enjoy the city, there are a lot of fun things to do.

Hi Kat!

I live at Barcelona and I'm part of the spanish "Skins' blog" staff, so first of all, if you've got any doubt about the city, feel free to ask me or Laia (she's one of my best friends and it's funny I found her above here, haha!) :)!

Secondly, I agree with Laia about La Ovella Negra. Don't go there!

If you wanna taste good sangría, you should visit La Alcoba Azul, it's near Calle Ferrán, a very small place in wich you can eat lovely food and taste some of the best sangría here at Bcn (and the price it's more or less like La Ovella... but much better!).

Another great place for eat is a restaurant at El Raval called En Ville; it's wonderful and the food is really delicious! And you can eat there some good mediterranean food. At midday they've got a good and cheap menu from monday to friday :)

And, as Laia said, Pim Pam burguer and Big J's are gorgeous; but for a healthy and lovely burger (with a heart shape... yes, heart!) you should go to Heart Burguer, near Plaza Universitat. Oh, and near Plaza Universitat there's another great place for dinners and drinks called EL Gato Negro; it's cheap and the food is delicious (and they've got some grat drinks too!).

If you like sweets, go to Lolita Bakery 8there's one at Borne's neighborhood and another one near La Pedrera, at Passeig de Grácia); they've got some of the best cupcakes around the city (the blueberry one is OMG).

And OF COURSE you should visit Gràcia! It's a lovely neighborhood in where you can find lovely places.

Anyway, you can visit my blog and search by the tag "Barcelona" (http://sahakiel.blogspot.com/) for more information or contact me for anything else :)

And of course, enjoy Barcelona :D!!

Hi Kat. I'm a huge fan of Skins and of your character, although I've never been in your site. When I read you were going to Bcn looking for the special places, I immediately though of bunkers. They're in a quartier called Vallcarca. Going there it's quite complicated but if you take the bus nº28 and descend in the last stop, it's only 5 minutes by foot. I think it's without any doubt the best place of Bcn, and the most magical. Here there's a photo if you want to see... (nowadays the boots aren't there, but it's equally amazing!) http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3214/2881585551_a4ce823aa5.jpg

I hope you stay your visit in Bcn, and don't forget Gracia! x
